RAF Typhoons declard on quick reaction alert

This month the RAF has declared that Typhoon F.2 aircraft from No.3(F) squadron has gone Qucik Rection Alert (QRA) in defence of the Southern part of the UK. This is the first operational RAF Squadron and is based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.

The Tonrnado F.3 had been undertaking these responsibilities and still does for the north of the UK from RAF Leuchars.

the stanard QRA fit compromises two 220 gallon supersonic under-wing fuel tanks, four AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-toAir Missiles and four AIM-132 Advanced Short Range Air-toAir Missiles.
